What’s in our current plan?

Our current general plan, called Plan Tucson, was voter-approved in 2013.

That’s why it’s important that we hear from you again. Creating this document brings together community members to co-create a vision for the future.

  • 25 Goals identified by the community for our community
  • 187 Policy Recommendations that support our goals
  • A Future Growth Map that shows how and where we intend to grow as a City

Why should you join the conversation?

Every 10 years, Tucsonans can share their input to guide the development and adoption of the general plan.

The City of Tucson believes the best approach to fulfill its obligation of creating a general plan every 10 years is to ask Tucsonans for their input to guide the development and adoption of the new plan.

The goals and policies spelled out in the new Plan Tucson will be used to guide the City’s investments, programs, policies, and land-use decisions over the next two decades.

By participating in the General Plan Update process, you can influence the plan's content to make it more relevant to you.

What can you expect from the updated Plan Tucson?

The updated Plan Tucson will include goals and policies that are still relevant from the prior plan and other recent City planning efforts. It will also address new priorities and emerging issues that you help identify.

Once the Plan Tucson draft is reviewed by the public and accepted by the Mayor and City Council, it will be put on the ballot for voter approval in November 2025.
